Research Associate / Senior Research Associate, Plant Sciences

  • Job description

    We’re looking for an inquisitive and driven Research Associate or Senior Research Associate who can step in and immediately contribute to a rapidly growing team. Working at the intersection of multiple groups, you will play a key role in furthering the development of our products and organization. This position is best suited for a self-motivated individual looking to rapidly grow with a seed-stage, mission-driven company.

  • What you'll do

    • Support in planta assay execution, including planting and maintaining assays, treatment, scoring, and analyzing assay results as a member of the plant science team and in collaboration with other teams.

    • Aid in the upstream microbiological work, including media preparation, enumeration and culturing of microorganisms via aseptic technique.

    • Aid in the execution of molecular workflows associated with nucleic acid based assays. Including the extraction of nucleic acid, setup, execution and analysis of PCR and sequencing.

    • Be responsible for the collection of data generated by the plant science assays and their entry into Robigo’s Data Management software suite.

  • Who you are

    • MS+ or BS+ in any related field (agronomy, plant pathology, plant physiology, microbiology, etc.) with relevant industry experience and a demonstrated ability for plant experimentation, execution of horticulture trials, and completion of research projects.

    • Experience with microbial handling and aseptic technique.

    • Familiarity with molecular tools associated with nucleic acid extraction and qPCR.

    • Excitement about learning new skills around design of experiments and statistical analysis.

  • Skillset

    • Experience with the following techniques: Aseptic technique, serial dilutions, colony counting, PCR/qPCR.

    • Capable of standing, sitting, bending, lifting, squatting for several hours at a time in a laboratory, greenhouse, or growth chamber to conduct essential physical work. Should feel comfortable lifting 30 lbs.
