Field Trial Manager

Position Overview
The Field Trial Manager will lead Robigo’s multi-site field trial program. This role is central to validating the performance of Robigo’s engineered microbial products through rigorous, well-designed trials. The ideal candidate combines strong agronomic expertise, exceptional operational discipline, and comfort working at the intersection between internal R&D and external research teams.
You will design and review trial protocols, manage a trial footprint of 15 - 25 trials per year across two crop–disease programs, and ensure that all field activities, from planting to harvest, are executed to protocol with high scientific integrity.

Responsibilities
Trial Design & Protocol Development
Review and provide feedback on proposed trial designs to ensure they capture data aligned with key scientific and product development questions.
Collaborate with internal R&D teams to ensure field trials answer priority technical questions and inform development decisions.
Write detailed trial protocols covering design, application method, sampling schedule, agronomic operations, and data collection.
Lead protocol reviews with CROs, ensuring mutual understanding of objectives, methods, and expectations.
Trial Execution & Operational Management
Serve as the primary point of contact and manage a footprint of 15 - 25 field trials annually across two crop and disease programs.
Ensure successful CRO execution of all critical trial activities, including planting, treatment applications, environmental and regulatory monitoring, sampling, disease assessments, crop destruct, and harvest.
Conduct site visits across the Midwest and California to audit execution quality, troubleshoot issues, and ensure protocol adherence.
Maintain proactive communication with CROs, growers, and field operators to resolve challenges quickly and keep studies on track.
Data Quality and Documentation
Ensure that data collection methods are consistent, reliable, and compliant with protocol requirements.
Coordinate with internal teams to ensure raw data, metadata, and documentation are stored, versioned, and transferred cleanly.
Program Planning
Help build multi-year trial frameworks that scale with Robigo’s expanding pipeline.
Support evaluation of new CROs, geographies, and trial partners as the program grows.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
Preferred PhD or MS in agronomy, microbiology, plant biology, biochemistry, or related discipline.
Advanced degree not required; expectation of commensurate industry experience.
Must-haves
Strong knowledge of agronomic application methods, trial design, and field trial protocols.
Experience managing at least 10 field trials per year, ideally with CROs or multi-site programs.
Exceptional organizational skills, with meticulous attention to documentation, version control, and protocol management.
Nice-to-haves
Experience with microbial or biological crop protection products.
Familiarity with disease scoring, crop protection assays, and sampling workflows.
Comfort working in early-stage or startup environments.
