Job description
We’re looking for an inquisitive and driven scientist who can step in and lead fermentation process development, including operating bioreactors, upstream culturing optimization, developing scalable fermentation processes & SOPs, and collaborating downstream with the formulation team to create the best possible product. This position is best suited for an adaptive, self-motivated individual looking to work in a seed-stage, mission-driven company.

What you'll do
Work closely with the strain engineering, formulation, and plant teams to help our microbes live their best lives
Develop a standardized and scalable fermentation processes for specific non-model bacteria such that the end microbes are compatible with downstream formulations and support viable microbial products
Operate and maintain in-house bioreactors
Onboard new microbes into the fermentation pipeline
Identify and vet small/med scale CMO partners for fermentation scale-up
Optimize the cost model for fermentation of Robigo’s microbes

Who you are
MS+ with 3+ years industry experience, preferably knowledgeable about fermentation -> formulation relationship
Excited to develop and implement new fermentation processes that support upstream and downstream innovation
Are motivated to take part in the building of an organization and creating an awesome place to work

Skillset
Advanced knowledge of bioreactor systems, specifically DASGIP
Comfortable utilizing automation software, setting up new protocols, analyzing run data
Experience maintaining sterile technique
Experience optimizing medias and working with non-model strains
Microbiology knowledge: Ability to leverage strain-specific microbe physiology and behavior for processes optimization
Experience translating processes to CMO partners and collaborating with CMOs
Experience building/maintaining/modifying/tinkering with systems
