Research Associate, QC & Analytics
Location: Onsite
Position Overview
The QC & Analytics Research Associate will play a central role in material processing, quality control, regulatory compliance, and product development for field trial evaluations of our microbial products. This person will support QC/QA of microbial formulations, field trial sample processing, sample QC/QA, and sample inventory. They will also support sample shipment, receipt, and documentation from CROs for regulatory compliance. This is an excellent opportunity for someone scientifically trained, hands-on, and eager to grow with a fast-moving biotechnology startup.

Responsibilities
Process and sub-sample field trial materials (plant tissue, soil, microbial samples) and perform timely DNA/RNA extractions to support regulatory QC, product development, and internal analytics
Receive, document, archive, and track samples from internal teams and CROs, maintaining accurate chain-of-custody, storage conditions, and inventory records
Update and maintain LIMS records to reflect sample receipt, processing status, storage locations, dates, and associated analytical data
Support generation, review, and upload of analytical and QC data to LIMS, ensuring data integrity, traceability, and compliance with SOPs and regulatory expectations
Coordinate shipment and receipt of materials with CROs and external partners, including preparation of documentation and verification of incoming materials
Qualifications
Education & Experience
BS or AS with commensurate experience in microbiology, molecular biology, biotechnology, agronomy, plant biology, or a related life sciences field
Hands-on laboratory experience with biological sample processing, including plant, soil, or microbial materials
Experience with nucleic acid extraction (DNA and/or RNA) and basic molecular biology techniques is preferred
Familiarity with laboratory documentation (e.g. working with LIMS), SOP-driven workflows, and sample traceability for regulatory compliance and QC
Familiarity with BSL-2 laboratory practices and PPE requirements
Must-haves
Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate sample handling, labeling, and documentation
Ability to execute laboratory protocols independently while coordinating with cross-functional teams (Field Trials, Regulatory, Bioprocessing, and Strain Engineering)
Comfort performing physical laboratory tasks (standing, lifting up to 30 lbs, bending, etc.)
Ability to manage multiple samples and deadlines while delivering on-time results for regulatory and QC needs
Enthusiasm for learning new laboratory techniques, analytical workflows, and data management systems
